Back to the Future: The Ride was a simulator ride previously featured at Universal Studios Florida and Universal Studios Hollywood. Both rides were closed in 2007, and were replaced by The Simpsons Ride. The Florida ride operated May 2, 1991 - March 30, 2007 and the Hollywood ride operated June 12, 1993 - September 3, 2007.

Halloween Horror Nights[]

At Universal Studios Florida, the ride had been run multiple years during Halloween Horror Nights Orlando. In 1992, it was "horrified" as Voyage into the Unknown. The same ride film still played during the attraction, but scareactors, themed to mad scientists, would appear and scare guests in the queue and pre-show areas. For Halloween Horror Nights: Sweet 16 in 2006, the exterior queue areas were used as a queue to the haunted house Psycho Path: The Return of Norman Bates. Queue monitors which would usually play the Back to the Future queue video were used to play clips from the Psycho movies during this time.

At Universal Studios Hollywood, the ride had also been run during the Halloween Horror Nights Hollywood event, and scareactors themed to The Director were added to the pre-show areas during Halloween Horror Nights 2006. The exterior plaza area of the ride was also used in 2006 to host the show The Mutaytor Dance Party.
