Okay, excellent, Hell's Kitchen, now were talking. Probably my all time fav. of H.H.N.'s. I can remeber this one best due to the fact it was my first ever H.H.N. experience. First year I attended and first maze I entered. And being 11 years old, damn did this one do it to me. Funny enough my actual current occupation is in fact a cook, crap. Okay, this puppy could be found in Nazarman's (New York area, across from the ol' Kong ride) and the line to get in (O.M.G. all 2 1/2 hours of it) filled the ally that housed Nazarman's and wrapped around filling almost the whole street wide where you enter into the side entrance to Finnegan's restaurant. So, I approach the entrance to this maze after a long wait in line and being entertained by costumed ghouls, eventually a large window that's part of the building front catches my eye. One of the demon cooks is proudly sitting in a little display area lifting up cockroaches that crawl along the inside of the window and begins to eat them. Yes, they were real. I witness a roach walk along, then get grabbed by this man and eaten. What an intro. The first thing I detect when entering the maze is the heat and excellent scareactors. Loud, mean, aggressive, and dangerous (this was in the glory days when scareactors touching the guest was still present). To my right, the head chef I think, was shouting and provoking the fresh meat coming in, from here on out, it was dark, lit with red lights throughout, hot as hell, foul smelling, steamy and sticky, loud and swarming with demon cooks. Body parts and bodies were everywhere and in heaps. Air hoses shot at you everywhere and rooms with obstacles were aplenty I.e. bodies hanging from the ceiling damp, squishy, and wet. About a 3 min. walkthrough but very intense, had a good sense of "damn is this safe?". And rest assure it was terrifying this maze. I think it eneded with an escape past a chainsaw cook and the house dumped you into the far end of Nazarman's ally (Near the lake in the park). Hands down, this house is the embodiment of horror and Universal needs to capture the magic of houses like this and the Bone Yard, houses that once were kings. The houses now may have more production to them, but these throwbacks had more of a "WELCOME TO HELL!" feel.
