Robosaurus was one of the seventeen shows that were featured during Halloween Horror Nights II. The show was located in New York (along the street across from Kongfrontation) and had three shows a night.

It came back for the following year, and was located in the same place. The show remained largely the same.

The show also came back during Halloween Horror Nights IV seemingly renamed Robosaurus II.

The final time Robosaurus has ever appeared was during Halloween Horror Nights: Sweet 16, but has not made an appearance since. In 2006, the show was only open on peak nights only.

Description (1994)[]

Man versus machine...To the death!

Description (2006)[]

The mechanical monster returns to wreak havoc on the now zombie overrun city of New York.

Deadtropolis has become a quarantine zone for the undead. Out of the chaos, something orderly is happening. The zombies are organizing, ready to break from their detainment. Returning from Halloween Horror Night's past is the fire breathing, car eating, monster Robosaurus sent in to stop the zombie uprising.

Show[]

Robosaurus was a 4 story (48 foot tall) and 30-ton semi-trailer that could transform into a huge robot dinosaur that breathes 40-foot-flames. It would eat and set fire to cars, and was powered by a 450 horsepower diesel engine. The dinosaur also shot fireworks from its body. In the daytime, it would sit in front of the New York Public Library curled up.

Once in 1992, one of the cars that Robosaurus ate mistakenly forgot to be emptied of gas, so the car exploded and set a trail of fire around the giant robot. Firefighters came to put out the fire and luckily no one was hurt.

The 1994 version of the show featured stunt actors performing next to Robosaurus. Some even shot him from the rooftops.

The 2006 version of the show was a tie-in with George A. Romero's film Land of the Dead, where a paramilitary group brought in Robosaurus to fight a hoard of zombies, culminating with the robot dropping a car onto an electrical transformer in order to release an EMP pulse to fry the zombies' brains.

Trivia[]

  • According to Michael Aiello, The Ghostbusters appeared in one of the Robosaurus shows.
  • Interestingly, the Robosaurus show during 1994 was called Robosaurus II, even though it was the third time the show came to the event. This could either be a typo or it could mean that this show was different than the other two previous ones.
  • Robosaurus was constructed for the TV movie, Steel Justice. Universal tried to make it into a weekly series but NBC rejected it, causing Robosaurus to only be used in car shows and other similar events.
  • In 1992, Roboasaurus allegedly destroyed 17 cars throughout the entire event (including rehearsals).
